Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Germany reached over $5.57 billion in the first half of the year, surging 1.75% year-on-year, figures from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show.
During the period, Vietnam exported products worth $3.82 billion to Germany, a year-on-year growth of 3.2%.
Meanwhile, the country’s import revenue from Germany was estimated at $1.75 billion, down 1.2% year-on-year.
With the results, Vietnam registered a trade surplus of $2.06 billion, soaring 7.18% compared to the same period last year.
Germany is the second largest trade partner of Vietnam in EU, following the Netherlands. Vietnam-Germany trade value accounts for 17% of the total trade revenue between Vietnam and the EU.
Major products exported to Germany registered high growth in the Jan-June period, including coffee, gaining export revenue of $383.4 million, up 37.4% year-on-year; seafood $94.3 million, 10.7%; cashew nuts $63.6 million, 33.1%; pepper $48 million, 156.6%; fruits and vegetable $32.2 million, 118.3%; and rubber $18.3 million, 35.6%.
A strong growth in export turnover was also recorded in the shipment of phones with $431.7 million, rising 23.2%; computers, electronic products and components $422.5 million, 29.2%; and wood and wood products $44.6 million, 46.3%.
