The 51st International Food and Beverage Exhibition, FOODEX Japan 2026, officially opened on March 10 in Tokyo, bringing together businesses from 74 countries and territories, reported Radio the Voice of Vietnam.

Vietnamese enterprises are participating in the event to promote their key agricultural and food products and to seek opportunities for export expansion into the Japanese market.

According to the organizers, FOODEX Japan 2026 features 3,738 booths and is expected to attract over 72,000 visitors.

The Vietnam Pavilion, spanning 204 sq.m, hosts 26 businesses. They are showcasing high-potential agricultural and food products tailored for the Japanese market, including: processed and canned fruits and vegetables, rice and rice-based products, cashews, pepper, cinnamon, star anise, spices, confectionery, dairy products, beverages, and other specialty agricultural goods.

Under the theme “Foods of Vietnam,” the pavilion features a modern design deeply rooted in Vietnamese cultural identity. The space combines product displays with on-site tasting activities, allowing visitors to directly experience the unique flavors and quality of Vietnamese cuisine.

“Vietnamese agricultural enterprises at FOODEX Japan 2026 are sending a strong message of an industry committed to green production, high quality, and consumer responsibility,” said Mr. Hoang Van Du, Head of the Vietnamese delegation.

On the very first day, Vietnam drew significant attention from both Japanese and international businesses. While visiting the Vietnam Pavilion, Mr. Hashimoto Akinori, President of Hashimoto Company, expressed particular interest in Vietnamese mushrooms. “I noticed a slight difference between Japanese and Vietnamese mushrooms, and the quality of the Vietnamese products is very high. We are currently focusing on this segment. In the very near future, Vietnamese mushrooms will appear frequently on Japanese dining tables,” he noted.

In addition to the national pavilion, the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan and the Vietnam Japan Business Association (VJBA) set up the “Vietnam Embassy Pavilion.” Covering approximately 135 sq.m with 15 prominently designed booths, this area aims to further promote the national image and Vietnamese food brands within the Japanese market.
