According to economic organizations, Vietnam’s growth this year will recover strongly, with an increase in investment flows. The opportunities the economy can access will outweigh the risks. Having ensured macro-economic stability, in the medium term, Vietnam will continue to be an important link in the global supply chain and a destination of choice for many investors.

At the National Online Conference on the National Master Plan formulation for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050, chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on March 2, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized it is important for planning to develop the country as a unified whole, undivided and not bound by administrative boundaries. The plan is expected to be submitted to the National Assembly (NA) in October.

The “Raising awareness, universalizing skills and developing the national digital transformation of human resources to 2025 and vision to 2030” project has been issued by the government, setting a target of training 20,000 engineers specializing in digital technology and 90 per cent of people of working age in online public services and other essential digital services.

Under a government Decree detailing the implementation of a number of articles in the Law on Real Estate Business, which took effect on March 1, the legal capital requirement of VND20 billion ($875,000) will be removed. The Decree also stipulates the conditions for the transfer of contracts for sale and purchase, lease-purchase of houses to be built in the future, and the transfer of lease-purchase contracts for existing houses and construction works.

A number of new policies on salaries; the suspension of the business of temporarily importing and re-exporting medical masks and gloves; real estate; natural disaster prevention and control in road traffic; and a logistics statistical indicator system, among others, will come into effect during March.

On February 28, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) signed a cooperation agreement on poverty reduction. The UNDP will provide policy advice and technical assistance to the ministry, to realize the goal of cutting the number of poor and near-poor households in half by 2025.
