Vietnam earned $2.97 billion from shrimp exports in the first eight months of 2025, up 23% year-on-year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
In August alone, shrimp exports brought in $479 million, marking a 19% increase compared to the same period last year.
China and Hong Kong (China) remained the largest importers, with turnover reaching $836 million in the January–August period, a surge of 75% and accounting for nearly 30% of Vietnam’s total shrimp export value. Vietnamese lobster and large tiger prawns are especially popular among Chinese consumers.
Exports to the US totaled nearly $500 million, while shipments to the EU reached $376 million during the eight-month period.
