The Vĩnh Long People's Committee has approved a $53 million investment for a 7-kilometer bypass along National Highway 57.
This bypass will run parallel to the planned Đình Khao Bridge, a crucial infrastructure project connecting Vĩnh Long and Bến Tre provinces.
The bypass, spanning two districts, Long Hồ and Măng Thít, will feature a 12-meter-wide road with two lanes. Construction is expected to begin in 2024 and finish by 2025, aligning with the completion timeline of the Đình Khao Bridge project.
The Đình Khao Bridge, with a total estimated cost of $96 million, is a key component of the National Highway 57 upgrade.
The bridge aims to replace the existing Đình Khao ferry, enhancing transportation efficiency and fostering economic development in the region.
The Ministry of Transport and the provincial governments of Bến Tre and Vĩnh Long are collaborating on the Đình Khao Bridge project. Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà has urged both provinces to expedite the project's implementation.
National Highway 57: A Critical Artery for the Mekong Delta
National Highway 57, a 103-kilometer route, plays a crucial role in connecting Vĩnh Long and Bến Tre provinces. The highway's upgrade, including the Đình Khao Bridge and the new bypass, is expected to significantly improve transportation and logistics in the Mekong Delta region.
Upon completion, the Đình Khao Bridge and the bypass will integrate with National Highways 53, 57B, and 60, creating a comprehensive transportation network.
This network will enhance regional connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and stimulate socio-economic growth in the Mekong Delta.
