Vietnam’s total export revenue of fruit and vegetables hit $3.34 billion in 2022, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said 2022 is considered a successful year in opening up export markets for Vietnam’s fruit and vegetables. Some of the fruit was exported to China via official channels following a protocol on phytosanitary requirements being signed between the two countries, including durian, fresh bananas, and sweet potatoes.
Vietnamese businesses have been permitted to export pomelos and limes to New Zealand following an export plan being signed between the two countries on November 15, 2022. Pomelos and limes are the fourth and fifth fruit being exported to New Zealand.
Most recently, Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan officially stated on the government website on November 18 that fresh longan from Vietnam can be imported.
In November, fresh pomelos became the seventh fruit from Vietnam to be licensed for export to the US.
The majority of Vietnam’s fruit and vegetables were exported to ten key markets last year: China, the US, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan (China), the Netherlands, Australia, Hong Kong (China), and Laos.
