Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen had a working meeting on October 6 with a delegation of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), led by its President, Mr.  Mr. Turgut Erkeskin,  to discuss and promote cooperation in developing the logistics sector of the capital city.

During the meeting, Mr.  Quyen emphasized that logistics is a key service industry, playing an essential role in connecting, supporting, and enhancing the competitiveness of the economy. It is also one of Hanoi's four strategic service sectors prioritized for development until 2050, along with tourism, information and communications technology (ICT), and financial–banking services.

According to Hanoi’s development orientation, the city is expected to become a strategic connectivity hub for the country's entire northern midland and mountainous region, as well as a center for commerce, logistics, and international services—linking subregions with the Red River Delta, gateway seaports, and major economic corridors such as China, ASEAN, and the East–West Economic Corridor.

The city leader also shared Hanoi’s goal of developing its logistics services in a modern, civilized, high-quality, and efficient manner, based on the application of advanced technologies.

“In particular, international experiences in logistics development will certainly make an important contribution to helping Hanoi shape the framework for its future logistics growth, with a strong focus on high technology and sustainable development,” Mr. Quyen stated.

Mr. Quyen also expressed his hope that FIATA and the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) would jointly propose solutions to help Hanoi build a logistics system that is faster, more efficient, and more sustainable, especially amid rapid technological advancement and increasing global uncertainties.

Mr. Turgut Erkeskin, for his part, highly appreciated the dynamism and potential of Vietnam’s logistics sector, particularly that of Hanoi, where logistics plays a key role in supporting trade and enabling businesses to connect effectively within supply chains.

“Logistics is one of the essential pillars of the economy. Without an efficient logistics system, many economic activities would be difficult to carry out—not only in Vietnam but also globally,” Mr. Erkeskin affirmed.

Recognizing Hanoi’s potential, the FIATA President expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation with Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general, viewing FIATA as an important platform for implementing effective logistics solutions in the near future.

To further enhance cooperation in logistics development, Mr. Dao Trong Khoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), stated that VLA fully supports Hanoi’s initiative to develop a comprehensive logistics development project, and is committed to closely coordinating with FIATA and international experts to ensure the project’s effective implementation in the coming time.
