Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung has signed a decision approving the expansion of Ho Chi Minh City high-tech park by 194.84 hectares in Long Phuoc Ward, marking a significant step in the city’s strategy to strengthen its position as a leading technology and innovation hub.

The expansion aims to support scientific research, high-tech and strategic technology development, as well as pilot production of advanced technology products.

The project forms part of the southern city’s broader vision of building a comprehensive high-tech ecosystem that integrates research, incubation, education, technology transfer, and commercialization.

A key feature of the expansion plan is its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality before 2050, in line with Vietnam’s long-term sustainable development goals.

Under the approved framework, the new area will host research and development activities in strategic technologies, pilot manufacturing of products developed within the high-tech park, and controlled testing of emerging technologies, products, and policy mechanisms. The expansion will also support technology incubation, workforce training partnerships, technology transfer, and commercialization initiatives in accordance with Vietnam’s high-tech development policies.

The project is expected to establish advanced research and innovation centers in priority sectors including microelectronics, information technology, automation, biotechnology, and advanced materials. It will also promote industry clusters and industrial symbiosis, while strengthening collaboration between businesses, universities, and research institutions.
