The Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF) is scheduled to open in the southern economic hub in September with the theme “Green Growth - The Journey to Zero Emissions”, local authorities told a press briefing on May 11.
The annual international event, hosted by the municipal People’s Committee, is aimed at receiving opinions about the city’s socio-economic development from both domestic and foreign experts.
It is expected to attract around 1,200 local and international participants, including experts and representatives from financial organizations and business associations.
City authorities will introduce its specific tasks and solutions on the implementation of green development and the application of a circular economy in service, business, and production activities, contributing to directing the city’s economy to develop quickly and sustainably.
Discussions will focus on trends in developing green growth and the circular economy in megacities, including Ho Chi Minh City; business’s missions; international resources and lessons promoting green growth and the circular economy; the city’s current situation; and solutions for the application of a green growth model.
The forum will also include trade and investment promotion exhibitions and linking activities.
The municipal People’s Committee recently approved a plan to implement the city’s green growth strategy towards sustainable development by 2030.
