The Ministry of Construction has asked localities to reclaim social houses that were sold to ineligible buyers and strictly punish violators.
Some people have been found to have abused social housing purchase and sale policies to earn a profit, making it difficult for low-income earners and workers at industrial parks to access such housing, according to Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh.
Violations have been detected in localities such as Ha Noi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Da Nang, and Dak Lak.
The ministry has asked relevant ministries, agencies, and localities to tighten management over the purchase of social housing and increase inspections.
The government set a target of least one million homes being built for low-income and industrial park workers by 2030.
The total number of completed dwellings in localities by that time will reach about 1,062,200. Of these, about 428,000 will be completed by 2025 and 634,200 by 2030.
