Northern Quang Ninh province has signed an MoU and presented an investment certificate to the $1.5-billion Stavian Petrochemical Plant project. This will be the first oil refinery and petrochemical plant in the province, to be built in Quang Yen town on an area of 30 ha and with a capacity of producing 600,000 tons of polypropylene a year.
Two subdivisions in Area 2 of the Nhon Trach New Urban Area have been approved by the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, on a total area of nearly 6,000 ha in the southern province and with a population of about 120,000 people, which may rise to more than 200,000 by 2035.
The Kim Thanh District People’s Committee in northern Hai Duong province has officially kicked off the East - West Road project (phase 1) in the district. The project has a length of nearly 15 km with total investment of VND1.5 trillion ($64 million) from the local budget. It is an important link that will create a breakthrough in socio-economic development for the area where Hai Duong borders Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city.
Part of the Ring Road No. 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City, the Nhon Trach Bridge will stretch more than 2 km and have total investment of over VND1.8 trillion ($77 million). Once built, it will connect two localities in the center of the southern region - Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province.
Northern Quang Ninh province will promote investment attraction in three key economic zones - Quang Yen, Van Don, and Mong Cai - with special priority given to attracting investment in 15 industrial parks. To realize the policy, in addition to promoting investment in infrastructure development, the province will also soon complete planning and create the most favorable conditions for investors and foreign enterprises to access information.
Proposals have been made that southern Dong Nai province invest in and build the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway lines, but the province has proposed the Prime Minister assign the Ministry of Transport (MoT) as the responsible agency. Investment in the two projects totals more than VND90 trillion ($3.84 billion), so it will be necessary to mobilize additional loans from foreign organizations.
