$350mln to go to traffic projects in Hau Giang

According to the Ministry of Transport (MoT), by 2025, priority will be given to allocating nearly VND8 trillion ($353.13 million) in medium-term public investment capital to six highway projects in the Mekong Delta’s Hau Giang province. These include two highway projects with substantial capital that will help the Delta region develop further.

Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway to open shortly

The 51.5-km, VND12.6 trillion ($556 million) Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway will be open to traffic before the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in early February. It is a section of the Eastern North-South Expressway project in the Mekong Delta, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Can Tho city and the Delta with the Southern Key Economic Region.

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has forwarded a report to the National Assembly (NA) on the receipt of and an explanation for the NA Economic Committee’s verification report on the construction of the Eastern North-South Expressway in the 2021-2025 period. MoT also explained the preliminary total investment of the project of VND146.9 trillion ($6.6 billion).

$130mln set aside for railway infrastructure maintenance in 2022

Total funding of VND3 trillion ($131.54 million) will go to the maintenance of Vietnam’s national railway infrastructure in 2022, an increase of VND2 billion ($87,700) compared to 2021. Vietnam Railways lost more than VND900 billion ($39.48 million) last year due to the pandemic. This year, if the pandemic is brought under control and the government’s economic stimulus packages are effective, the railway industry may see stability and avoid further losses.
