People around Vietnam will enjoy a nine-day holiday for the upcoming Lunar New Year, or Tet, holiday, from January 25 to February 2, 2025, under a decision from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The Office of the Government announced on November 26 that the Prime Minister had agreed to a proposal from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs on a nine-day break for Tet, including five workdays and two consecutive weekends.
The ministry said in its proposal that the long holiday will allow workers to relax, stimulate tourism, and promote economic development.
The first day of the holiday will coincide with the 26th day of the last lunar month, while the last day will fall on the fifth day of the first lunar month.
Tet is Vietnam’s biggest holiday and an integral part of local culture, as it is a time of joy and celebration marking the start of a new year.
