MoLISA proposes increase to minimum wage

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) has proposed that the minimum wage be increased by an average of 6 per cent, effective from July 1. Due to Covid-19, it has been more than two years since the minimum wage was last adjusted, which is normally done annually, meaning it no longer guarantees a minimum standard of living.

Decision issued on social security estimates for 2022

Under a Decision signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai on May 13, total revenue from social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance premiums this year is estimated at nearly VND464.6 trillion ($20 billion), while total payouts will be over VND376.9 trillion ($16 billion).

Vietnam ranked 59th globally in education

According to rankings of the best countries in education in 2021 from USNEWS, a leading US magazine on politics, economics, and health and education, Vietnam was 59th out of 78 countries and territories, up five places compared to 2020, when it ranked 64th out of 73 countries and territories. It is ahead of Cambodia and Myanmar in Southeast Asia, but behind Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
