From 2021 to 2024, Vietnam's trade deficit has narrowed significantly due to higher export growth compared to import growth, particularly in 2023 and 2024.
In a meeting on September 13 with the President of the National Assembly of Cambodia Samdech Heng Samrin, who is visiting Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides further improve the efficiency of their economic cooperation. In the first seven months of this year, two-way trade turnover reached more than $7 billion, up 17.8 per cent year-on-year. Vietnam currently has 188 investment projects in Cambodia with total registered capital of $2.8 billion, ranking it first in ASEAN.
Figures from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show that trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos stood at $1.076 billion in the first eight months of this year, a 27 per cent increase over the same period of 2021. Turnover for the year as a whole is expected to reach $1.6 billion, up 20 per cent compared to 2021.
