Vietnam's aviation authorities insist domestic airfares remain within regulated boundaries, even as airline profits soar and travelers grapple with escalating costs. However, this delicate equilibrium between profitability and affordability may be approaching its breaking point, jeopardizing the nation's aspirations to bolster domestic tourism.
Vietjet Air and Boeing signed an agreement during the Farnborough International AirShow 2022 in the UK from July 18 to 22 on restructuring and continuing with a contract for 200 Boeing 737 aircraft. Vietjet’s order, totaling $35 billion, includes aircraft and engineering services.
Many specialties from Hai Duong province were introduced at the recent Vietnam Fair in Kagoshima, Japan, such as mung bean cakes, lychees, jelly, lotus tea, pottery, and embroidery. The governor of Kagoshima prefecture said the fair will help local people understand more about Vietnam. It will also help promote Vietjet’s plan to conduct Hanoi - Kagoshima direct flights.
On June 25 at the Da Nang Investment Forum 2022, Vietjet Air announced the opening of seven new international routes connecting the central city with Singapore, Busan in South Korea, and New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore in India. The routes will come into operation during the third quarter.
Vietjet Air opened four more routes on June 22 connecting Vietnam and India, including Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi with Mumbai and Phu Quoc Island with New Delhi and Mumbai. The carrier was the first to conduct direct flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and the Indian capital and Mumbai. It therefore now has six routes between Vietnam and India.
