Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung chaired a meeting on October 23 on the Scheme to promote intellectual property (IP) work for socio-economic development in the new situation.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is currently tasked with developing this Scheme to enhance the quality and effectiveness of intellectual property work in the new context.
It is stated that intellectual property is a crucial driving force for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development and a strategic tool.
The goal by 2035 is to strive for IP-intensive industries to contribute at least 35% of GDP; 100% of higher education institutions and vocational education institutions to include IP content in their training programs; and 100% of ministries, sectors, and localities to have IP development, management, and exploitation programs aligned with international standards.
Additionally, the IP and technology transaction market is expected to operate effectively with an average annual increase of 10% in number of transactions. The export value of cultural industries is targeted to grow by an average of 8% per year, while also striving for over 10 national brands in the cultural industry sector to be positioned and affirmed in the international market.
The vision for 2045 is for Vietnam to become a country with one of the most advanced IP systems in the world. Intellectual property rights, along with other intangible assets, are projected to account for no less than 80% of the market value of Vietnam's largest capitalized enterprises.
In his closing remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized the objectives of the Scheme: to unlock IP resources to contribute to economic development; ensure protection, exploitation, management, and development of IP; attract direct and indirect investment towards high technology; promote domestic science, technology, and innovation; ensure national security; and implement international commitments.
