On November 16, during an official visit to Thailand, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. The two sides agreed to continue promoting relations in connecting supply chains, grassroots economic sectors, and sustainable growth strategies, and to strive to bring bilateral trade turnover to $25-30 billion soon and in a more balanced direction.

The 16th Vietnam-US labor dialogue took place in Hanoi on November 16, gathering together representatives from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the US Department of Labor, and the US Embassy in Vietnam. Vietnamese representatives spoke about the country’s new labor policies and the implementation of the National Action Plan on child labor.

Figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) show that Vietnam has 69 logistics centers with over 30,000 enterprises, of which more than 5,000 participate in international logistics. For Vietnam’s logistics sector to continue its current growth momentum, analysts believe that businesses need to improve infrastructure and boost human resources, in particular paying attention to digitization to build a convenient and modern logistics ecosystem.

The Aus4Reform Program, funded by the Australian Government, aims to support Vietnamese agencies in implementing their plans in economic restructuring and improvements.

Prime Minister Pham Minh held talks on November 13 with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is paying an official visit to Vietnam. Chancellor Scholz emphasized that German corporations and businesses are increasingly interested in Vietnam, as the country has a stable political situation and a favorable business and investment environment.

Figures from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) show that two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and the UK in 2021, the first year of implementing the UK - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA), reached $6.6 billion, up 17.2 per cent compared to 2020. Vietnam’s exports came in at nearly $5.8 billion, up 16.4 per cent, while its imports from the UK stood at $849 million, up 23.6 per cent.
