Vietnam at 48th in Global Innovation Index 2022

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) released the Global Innovation Index (GII) Report 2022 on September 30, which ranked Vietnam at 48th out of 132 countries and territories and in the group of countries to have achieved the greatest progress in the past decade. In particular, it states that Vietnam leads the world in importing high technologies, while the country also posted a higher ranking in terms of output.

Vietnam committed to promoting gender equality

Addressing the online ASEAN-US Ministerial Dialogue on September 29, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha affirmed that Vietnam is committed to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, especially in employment and labor. She expressed a hope that the US will continue to cooperate and help ASEAN member countries fulfill their commitments in gender equality to fully strengthen women’s rights and post-pandemic recovery.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son chaired a working session with many ministries, branches, and provincial people’s committees on September 28 to develop a project training high-quality human resources for technology development. A representative from the Department of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and Training said the project will focus on attracting businesses to participate in high-tech human resources training.

Thanh Hoa exceeds annual tourism targets

According to the Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, tourism in the north-central province has exceeded targets set for 2022. It welcomed over 10.3 million visitors in the first nine months of 2022, representing nearly 104 per cent of the annual plan. Total tourism revenue was nearly VND20 trillion ($835.8 million) in the period, or 106.4 per cent of the annual target.
