Vietnam had six localities posting budget revenue of VND50 trillion ($2.14 billion) or more last year. Thanh Hoa is about to join this group, as its budget revenue for 2022 is expected to come in at between VND50 trillion and VND55 trillion ($2.14 billion and $2.35 billion), exceeding the annual estimate by some 40 per cent.

At a recent seminar entitled “The impact of COP26 on energy transition towards green growth”, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc said that to achieve the goal of energy transition and net zero emissions, as committed, the greatest problem remains implementation resources.

A Directive on economic diplomacy for the country’s development to 2030, issued recently by the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, sets out seven key tasks. In regard to improving the quality and efficiency of international economic integration, it is necessary to continue efforts in multilateralization and diversify markets and partners, and actively participate in and firmly consolidate Vietnam’s position in global supply chains.

On August 23, at a meeting with the Steering Committee to develop the “Industrialization and modernization policy to 2030, with a vision to 2045” project, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that industrialization and modernization must take internal resources as the strategic, long-term, and decisive factor. It is necessary to promote public-private cooperation and mobilize all resources for industrialization and modernization.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the industrial production index will rise 9.5 per cent this year, with export growth at 9.5 per cent and import growth at 10.3 per cent. Trade will be in surplus, by $1 billion.

Addressing a conference on August 22 on the development of the defense industry, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the need to build an active, modern, and dual-use defense industry as a spearhead of national industry.
