VCCI proposes government develop distinct law on circular economy

According to Mr. Bui Trung Nghia, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam achieving its goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 will require the involvement of all economic and social sectors in all levels and localities. At a conference on developing the circular economy, held on June 28 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, he made five recommendations in the medium and long terms to further strengthen cooperation between the State, the government, and businesses in promoting the circular economy, including developing a distinct law and promoting and participating in effective international cooperation.

PM: Vietnam ready to cooperate with world to resolve ocean challenges

On June 28, speaking at the “Aspirations for a peaceful, sustainable, and prosperous ocean” videoconference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced that Vietnam is committed to accelerating the implementation of solutions to develop the marine economy on the basis of green growth, biodiversity conservation, and restoration of the marine ecosystem. He affirmed that the country is ready to cooperate with the international community to resolve ocean challenges.

Vietnam Circular Economy Network launched

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the UNDP inaugurated the Vietnam Circular Economy Network within the framework of a conference kicking off the development of a national action plan to implement Vietnam’s circular economy, held on June 28. Implemented and built in 2021 with support from the embassies of Norway, the Netherlands, and Finland in Vietnam, the network will contribute to perfecting institutions and policies and accelerating the transition to an effective circular economy in all socio-economic fields.

Vietnam demonstrating leading role in environmental action

Ms. Kristin Hughes, Director of the Global Plastics Action Partnership (GPAP) and Executive Board Member at the World Economic Forum (WEF), told the Vietnam Circular Economy Forum 2022 on June 28 that Vietnam has shown its leading role in the overall process of protecting the global environment, helping the world establish international agreements. She affirmed that GPAP wishes to continue to cooperate with Vietnam in reducing environmental pollution from plastics.

Education cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary given boost

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son told the third “Vietnam-Hungary Higher Education Cooperation Conference” on June 27 in the Hungarian capital Budapest that universities in the two countries have expressed a willingness to expand cooperation, focusing on medicine, pharmacology, basic science, agricultural science, and digital transformation. In addition, nine cooperative MoUs between universities in the two countries were also signed in the presence of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, who is visiting Hungary.
