With forecasts that bad debts are likely to increase in the time to come, the National Assembly (NA) has agreed to extend Resolution No. 42 on piloting bad debt settlement at credit institutions from August 15 to December 31.

At the Vietnam Urban Sustainable Development Forum, held by the Ministry of Construction (MoC) on June 17, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh asked for renewed thinking on urban development and urban management, in which urban infrastructure is the main concern for urban areas, especially transport infrastructure, while public welfare should also be paid particular attention.

To mark National Digital Transformation Day, to be held on October 10 every year as identified under the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 505/QD-TTg dated April 22, 2022, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) has proposed that ministries and branches launch digital transformation initiatives that bring practical immediate and long-term benefits from October 1 to 10 this year or throughout the month of October. It also proposed a number of reference initiatives for ministries, sectors, and businesses.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture has reported on three solutions for urban development around Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Tan Binh district. Tan Son Nhat having an expansion plan and Ho Chi Minh City adjusting its general plan to 2040 and vision to 2060 presents an opportunity to improve the surrounding area.

Within the framework of the AVEG (Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Grant), on June 16 the Vietnam-Australia Business Cooperation Forum was held to support businesses from the two countries seek opportunities for cooperation and transfer solutions and technologies in the fields of clean energy, high-tech agriculture and digital transformation applications. The Forum also contributes to celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia next year.

On June 16, the National Assembly (NA) approved the construction of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway, first phase, connecting south-central Khanh Hoa and the central highlands’ Dak Lak provinces, stretching 117 km in length and with total investment of nearly VND22 trillion ($946 million) from the State budget. Project implementation is subject to special mechanisms, and completion is expected in 2027.
