At the third session of the National Assembly (NA), 15th tenure, on May 23, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh identified 12 key solutions to achieve goals and planning tasks for socio-economic development in 2022, including synchronous and flexible management, close coordination of monetary, fiscal, and other policies to continue maintaining macroeconomic stability, continuing to restructure the economy in association with renovating the growth model, strengthening administrative reform, especially administrative procedure reform, and improving the business investment environment.

At their meeting with the Foreign Business Association 2022 on May 20, Ho Chi Minh City leaders said the city will introduce a digital platform next month to connect the business community and will regularly hold meetings to quickly resolve the difficulties enterprises face. According to the Department of Planning and Investment, Ho Chi Minh City has 197 projects calling for investment and hopes to attract FDI in depth more so than breadth and that applies modern and eco-friendly technology.

Secretary General of the National Assembly (NA) and Chairman of the Office of the NA Bui Van Cuong said on May 20 that, at its third session from May 23 to June 17, the legislature will consider and approve five laws and three draft resolutions and discuss another six laws, and at the same time consider and decide on investment policies for five key national transport projects.

On May 20, at a meeting with the Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin, who is visiting Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the country has long been one of Vietnam’s leading partners in the region and largest investor in ASEAN. He asked that it share its experience in digital transformation and continue to support Vietnam in human resources training, especially for high-quality management staff.

The “Innovation in science and technology of natural rubber for the global carbon cycle” project will be implemented in Vietnam for five years, from 2022 to 2027. Funded by Japanese ODA through the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) and implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), the project focuses on developing advanced technologies to establish a large-scale protein-free natural rubber production process in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Intel, Apple, and Google in Silicon Valley on May 17, during his working visit to the US. Leaders of the corporations evaluated Vietnam as having potential for tech businesses to continually expand operations.
