Speaking at the “Soc Trang Provincial Investment Promotion Conference” on April 28, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that, to develop the investment ecosystem, it is necessary to aim for the following goals: “Openness, transparency, equality, safety, effectiveness and sustainability”, in which diversified investment capital, maximized social resources, and strengthened public-private cooperation are needed. He also agreed with the Mekong Delta province’s orientation towards attracting renewable energy development, due to its ideal wind potential and long coastline.

Northern Hai Phong city is one of six cities around the world participating in the World Bank’s Climate Change Adaptation Program in Cities. At a meeting with Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang on April 25, Ms. Carolyn Turk, Country Director of the World Bank in Vietnam, said that its expert groups will develop a detailed and effective coordination plan with the city in support of the “Project to Develop Hai Phong City to Adapt to Climate Change”.

The National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2045 was approved by the Appraisal Council on April 26 and will pave way for the development of renewable energy. The plan is expected to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval in May.

Speaking online on April 23 at the 4th Asia-Pacific Summit on Water in Japan, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed three groups of measures to effectively manage and sustainably exploit water resources. He also emphasized that Vietnam will attach special importance to prioritizing water security over economic growth.

The Road Law project, proposed by the Ministry of Transport (MoT), will add regulations and policies to attract resources to invest in and develop Vietnam’s road transport infrastructure. The State, businesses, and people will all benefit.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong assessed the Mekong Delta as a strategically important area of ​​particular importance in terms of politics, economy, culture, society, national defense, security and foreign affairs. Therefore, the development of the Mekong Delta is the responsibility of the entire political system. He requested the Government to soon issue the development planning of the Mekong Delta region to 2030, with a vision to 2045, creating a basis for localities in the region to develop their own development plans.
