Over 500 genuine and counterfeit products are currently on display at the "Real Goods - Fake Goods" exhibition, themed "Understand Real Goods – Avoid Fake Goods," located at 62 Trang Tien, Hanoi.
These counterfeit products were collected by the market surveillance force during inspections and violation handling, while the genuine ones were provided through coordination with representatives of genuine brand owners.
The items span a wide range of sectors, including food, agricultural products, cosmetics, dietary supplements, fashion, footwear, and automotive and motorcycle parts.
Notably, for this exhibition, the Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA) has contributed items to display and introduce to Vietnamese consumers. These include Asics sports shoes, Yonex badminton rackets, Canon camera batteries, Transino cosmetics, YKK zippers, and NGK spark plugs. These are all high-demand product lines that are frequently counterfeited due to their high value.
At the exhibition, each product features a clear side-by-side comparison of the real and fake versions. This allows visitors to directly compare and identify specific differences—from materials and designs to labels—in a visual and vivid manner.
The event was opened on November 21 by the Directorate of Market Surveillance (Ministry of Industry and Trade) in response to Anti-Counterfeiting Day (November 29).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director General of the Directorate of Market Surveillance Tran Huu Linh, emphasized that the display is a practical initiative that contributes to spreading legal knowledge and enhancing consumers' capacity to protect themselves.
At the display areas, market surveillance officers are present to directly guide citizens on how to recognize counterfeit goods through stamps, labels, QR codes, origin traceability technology, and the characteristic signs of each product group.
