For the first time, a comprehensive and up-to-date report on Vietnam’s open innovation ecosystem - the “Vietnam Open Innovation Landscape Report 2021” - is to be released by one-stop innovation platform BambuUP in December.
Based on assessments of international organizations, Vietnam has one of the top 3 most dynamic innovative startup ecosystems in Southeast Asia, just behind Indonesia and Singapore. However, 95 per cent of its enterprises and large corporations do not have enough information on the country’s startup ecosystem, which leads to the fact that interaction, co-creation, and development cooperation between Vietnamese businesses and innovative startups are still limited.
According to Ms. Nguyen Huong Quynh, General Director of BambuUP, the report will have four goals. The first is to provide an overall and comprehensive picture of all fields in the open innovation and startup ecosystem in Vietnam. The second is to update readers and analyze innovation trends in the world and in Vietnam as well as the needs and priorities of businesses in the future. The third is to assess where Vietnam’s startup ecosystem is compared to the world and where will be the next development opportunity. And the fourth is to create a diversified and updated database for businesses, investors, and startups to find potential partners.
The report will also provide a map of startups through key economic sectors such as Retail, Financial Technology (Fintech), Education Technology (Edutech), Healthcare Technology (Healthtech), Marketing and Sales Technology, Logistics, Foodtech & Agtech, and Travel & Tourism, etc.
It is expected to contribute to a sharper development map of Vietnam’s startup ecosystem and widely promote Vietnamese startups among foreign partners. Moreover, the goal of the project is to bring the report to about 20 countries with 5,000 organizations, businesses, individuals, etc.
