With a theme of “Connecting for Sustainable Development”, the ASEAN++ Bridge forum held on September 9 in Ho Chi Minh City attracted more than 400 businesses and representatives from trade promotion agencies, business associations from the ten ASEAN member countries, and Japan, India, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. All are committed to environmental protection, sustainable development, connections, and cooperation towards developing the digital economy, the circular economy, and the green economy.

Most of the law projects that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested relevant ministries and agencies complete and submit to the National Assembly for comment at its next meeting in October relate to economic matters, such as amendments to the Land Law, the revised Law on Bidding, the revised Law on Cooperatives, the revised Price Law, the revised Law on Electronic Transactions, the revised Consumer Protection Law, and amendments to the Law on Anti-Money Laundering.

The challenge for Vietnam right now is to both achieve its goal of joining the group of middle- and high-income countries and meet its emissions reduction commitments. To overcome the challenge, it needs a more specific and drastic plan, taking advantage of resources from the non-State sector and ensuring the rights of people affected by a green transition.

On September 7, while participating in the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia, via a video-recorded speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam has actively participated in multilateral initiatives, including regional and inter-regional economic links, and is ready to make active contributions to economic recovery and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) held a press conference on September 7 regarding the 22nd International Agricultural Exhibition (AgroViet 2022), to be held from September 15 to 18. The expo is being hosted by MARD, the Center for Agricultural Trade Promotion, and the Department of Processing and Market Development of Agricultural Products to approach and develop 4.0 agricultural production and create value chains for agricultural products, boost trade promotion activities, expand cooperative relations, and act as a bridge between businesses and consumers.

During talks on September 6 with visiting Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Japan’s Minister of Justice Yasuhito Hanashi said the country will be hiring people in a number of professions in the immediate future, with the priority on elderly care. The Ministry of Justice will propose expanding the acceptance of trainees as drivers.
