Hon Trau Wind Power Plant Project (Phase 1) has a designed capacity of 750 MW, expected to be completed and put into operation no later than the fourth quarter of 2029...

The Gia Lai Department of Finance has recently announced the Hon Trau Wind Power Plant (Phase 1).

Covering an area of more than 32 ha of water surface and over 17.6 ha of land, the project has a total investment of nearly VND48.4 trillion (nearly $1.84 billion), and is scheduled for completion and operation by the fourth quarter of 2029.

However, this timeline may be adjusted according to the Prime Minister's directives, aligning with the National Marine Spatial Planning and the Master Plan for Sustainable Exploitation and Use of Coastal Resources for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050.

According to the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the project aims to provide clean energy from renewable sources to the national power system, contributing to energy security and supporting the socio-economic development of the province.

Additionally, the project will create jobs, increase budget revenue, promote local industrial and service development, and support the goal of double-digit economic growth in the coming years.

The project is also listed in Decision No. 1509/QD-BCT dated May 30, 2025, by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, regarding the implementation plan of the National Power Development Plan VIII (adjusted), and is identified in the former province of Binh Dinh (now part of Gia Lai)'s development plan for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in 2023.

It is also included in the list of projects for investor selection using land according to Resolution No. 37/NQ-HDND, dated April 28, 2025, of the former Binh Dinh Provincial People's Council.
