Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Vu Dai Thang on April 22 had a meeting with Ms. Kang Kum Sil, South Korea's Ambassador for Climate Change and Environment, along with a delegation of South Korean enterprises operating in the fields of environment and urban development.

At the meeting, Chairman Vu Dai Thang emphasized that cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea in general, and between Hanoi and South Korean partners in particular, has been developing very positively, especially in urban governance, infrastructure development, and transportation.

Notably, the relationship between the capital cities of Hanoi and Seoul has become increasingly substantive and in-depth, particularly in urban governance and the development of urban transport infrastructure.

Hanoi is currently promoting high-tech sectors, with the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park identified as one of its key innovation hubs. In practice, the park has received growing attention and active cooperation from South Korean partners.

The Chairman also underscored that challenges such as climate change response, water pollution, and wastewater treatment are global issues, especially in urban and industrial areas.  On that basis, Mr. Thang noted that Hanoi sees significant potential for further cooperation with South Korean partners in wastewater treatment, river flood control, and other environmental solutions.

From the South Korean side, Ms. Kang Kum Sil shared that during General Secretary To Lam’s visit to Seoul last year, Hanoi and Seoul signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in developing Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, laying an important foundation for South Korean partners to support the park’s development.

She affirmed that the South Korean side is ready to serve as a bridge connecting Hanoi with South Korean partners in water resource management and wastewater treatment, thereby contributing to climate change response and promoting the capital’s economic development.

At the meeting, South Korean enterprises in the environmental sector, particularly in water resource management and smart city development, also shared their experiences and exchanged information with Hanoi’s representatives. They expressed their readiness to enhance cooperation, jointly improve environmental quality, and contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam's capital city.
