The expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City–Trung Luong–My Thuan Expressway is scheduled to begin this December, according to Project Management Unit 7.
Implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the project is expected to cost more than VND41.3 trillion ($1.55 billion).
The 96.13-kilometre expressway links Ho Chi Minh City with the former provinces of Long An and Tien Giang in the Mekong Delta.
Under the plan, the Ho Chi Minh City–Trung Luong section will be expanded to eight lanes with a maximum speed of 120 km per hour, while the Trung Luong–My Thuan section will be widened to six lanes, allowing speeds of up to 100 km per hour.
Construction will run from 2025 to 2028, with plans for a future upgrade to 10–12 lanes to meet growing traffic demand.
