At a dialogue with representatives from South Korean associations and businesses in Vietnam on July 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the Vietnamese Government will create the best possible conditions for businesses to succeed. South Korea is currently the largest foreign investor in Vietnam, with nearly 9,400 projects and total investment of nearly $80 billion.

France’s Dassault Systèmes Group, which has just opened its first representative office in Hanoi, has pledged to support Vietnam to become a green export processing center and to help develop smart cities in the context of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang having announced the application of smart technology in traffic management, healthcare, and education over the next decade.

At the “Policies on the industrialization and modernization of the country by 2030 and vision to 2045” conference on July 28, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh emphasized that the two tasks must change to suit the new circumstances. Work should be based on a foundation of science, technology, and innovation associated with requirements in green growth and sustainable and inclusive development.

At a meeting on July 28 with leaders from ministries and agencies to discuss solutions to control inflation, stabilize the macro-economic situation, and promote socio-economic recovery and development, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the key task and top priority is to continue with existing efforts and ensure major balances.

Standard Chartered has forecast that Vietnam’s GDP growth will reach 10.8 per cent in the third quarter of this year, 3.9 per cent in the fourth quarter, and 6.7 per cent for the year as a whole. While commenting that inflation remains under control, the bank also forecast that price pressures, especially on food and fuel, are likely to increase during the second half of this year and into 2023.

On July 24, at a meeting with leaders from north-central Nghe An province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the province has a lot of potential and advantages from its seas, forests, and borders, adequate transportation network, and international connections. Opportunities and resources for future breakthroughs are therefore significant.
