Vietnam is currently the world's largest exporter of processed cashew kernels.

According to Vietnam Customs, Vietnam exported 72,440 tons of cashews, valued at $491.29 million  in September, representing an increase of 4.2% in volume and 3.9%  in value compared to the previous month.

Compared to the same period last year, there was a strong surge of 26.5% in volume and 31.5% in value. As a result, cumulative export turnover for the first nine months increased by 19.5%, even though volume only grew by 1.6% year-on-year.

For the first three quarters of 2025, Vietnam's cashew exports reached 554,760 tons, valued at $3.77 billion, completing over 83% of the $4.5 billion target set by the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas).

According to Vinacas, the cashew industry only needs an additional $730 million in the fourth quarter to achieve its 2025 target of $4.5 billion. However, if the current growth rate is maintained, a figure of $5 billion is entirely feasible.

In September 2025, China, the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) continued to be Vietnam's top five largest cashew export markets, accounting for over 58% of total exports. Among these, China emerged as a key driver of growth, while the US market remained somewhat stagnant due to the impact of tariff policies.

Vinacas notes that Q4 is typically when global importers increase purchases to serve the year-end holiday season, including Christmas, New Year's Day, and Lunar New Year. Demand for nuts, especially cashews, is expected to surge in major markets such as the US, EU, and China.

Vietnam is currently the world's largest exporter of processed cashew kernels, accounting for over 80% of the global trade.
